ITANAGAR, Oct 21: At a time, when the North East states, particularly Arunachal Pradesh
continued to be plagued with shortage of honest officers and endemic corruption a
young Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from Arunachal, Dr. Joram Beda
has become shining example of honesty and sincerity. He has kept the pride of North
East region as well as Arunachal Pradesh alive in the land of five rivers called
Punjab with his sheer determination and administrative farsightedness. He is the
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Moga district in Punjab and he brought his
district in number position in implementing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment
Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme. Dr Joram Beda, a 2008 batch IAS of Punjab cadre,
though looks quite different from other people in Punjab, his good administration
and effective monitoring skills in carrying out the developmental projects and his
zeal for serving common people as an administrator has enabled him to earn appreciation
from the government of Punjab on 7th September 2012 for good performance in MG-
Though he looks diminutive in figure his efficient and commanding prowess and strictness in principle makes his presence felt among the staff. Dr. Beda is not only an efficient IAS officer but also a doctor by profession, which makes him even easily accessible to common people.

Mt Gorichen expedition team arrives in state capital
ITANAGAR, Oct 21: The Mt Gorichen Expedition team arrived at Itanagar today after successfully scaling one of the toughest mountains in the Himalayan range. The expedition team members will be officially flagged in tomorrow at the Banquet Hall by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.

Field Advisor cum LO K N Damo coordinated the expedition very well but he had his share of anxiety when he lost all communication with the team members for four continuous days. That time the team members were at Summit Camp and the weather had gone from bad to worst. When he was about to press the panic button for search and rescue operation, he got the good news about the successful summit from the ITBP posted at Mago on October 11 evening.
Earlier, the expedition team members were accorded a civic reception at Bomdila by West Kameng District Administration and the NGO members.
Deputy Commissioner Rinchin Tashi while congratulating and felicitating the mountaineers stated that this expedition will open a new era of mountaineering and adventure tourism in the State.
Local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary HPD, R T Khunjuju also conveyed his hearty congratulations to the team members and presented a memento to all the mountaineers through Arunachal Mountaineering & Adventure Sports Association (AMASA) President Tsering Wange.

All the passengers of the vehicle which met with the accident were porters of the Army Special Corps battalion stationed at Tawang.
One of the passenger received serious injuries in the road mishap. However, condition of all other seven passengers are reported to be stable, the SP informed. The injured were admitted to Bhalukpong primary health centre on Saturday and were evacuated to Tezpur on Sunday morning, the SP said.

NIRJULI, Oct 21: As thousands of devotees thronged various puja pandals to pay obeisance to Ma Durga on the occasion of Saptami today, Lok Sabha member Takam Sanjoy addressing the devotees at NERIST puja pandal exhorted the people of the state to use peace as the weapon to protect the sanctity of the institute.
Gifted by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as a first of such model institute in the nation to meet technical manpower requirements of the seven NE states, NERIST is unique and represent the spirit of India, Sanjoy said in his fervent appeal to guard the institute from any disruptive forces for it to earn laurels for Arunachal Pradesh.

ITANAGAR, Oct 21: The sports fraternity of Arunachal today deeply mourned the untimely demise of Mindo Padu, chairman of Arunachal Pradesh Referee Committee. Padu died here yesterday after a prolonged illness.
Expressing grief and sorrow over sad demise of Padu, Arunachal Olympic Association Secretary General G Doke, said that his untimely demise is a great loss to Arunachal football. A good footballer, Padu represented the state football team at national level tournaments several times. Doke, who also is the general secretary of Arunachal Pradesh Football Association, on behalf of the sports family of the state, conveyed deep sense of condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

He said that the people of our state are still lacking in proper water and sanitation practices for which the govt. has initiated programs, such as TSC or NBA. ITANAGAR, Oct 21: The Adis (Abors) have fought wars against British at different places in Adi areas. However, there heroic deeds and supreme sacrifices have never find a place in the history of freedom movement in India. But their supreme sacrifices still alive in the heart of Adi people in form of legend and Myth.
The contribution of Late Borkeng Tayeng and Late Kebo Tayeng who valiantly fought and made supreme sacrifice in protecting the mother land from the British remained only in form of legend within Abor Padams.
In order to keep the contribution of Borkeng and Kebo Tayeng in freedom movement and their heroic deeds alive, the Tayeng Welfare Society (TWS) is erecting a War Memorial Monument “ Abor Liireng” on October 23 at Ayeng village, Mebo circle of East Siang District.
The role of Borkeng and Kebo in freedom movement:
It appears from the history of relation between Adi and British that since 1825
the British wanted to intrude into the Adi territory. However, the Adis were averse
the British intention which led to the Anglo-
Further, the Revolt of 1857 brought feeling of nationalism and also develop a sense of freedom throughout India including Assam and Adi territory. The Indian people including Adis wanted to fight back for freedom of their areas. This sense of freedom movement inspired Adis to fight against British administration. So, in order to protect Adi territory in the year 1882 late Borkeng Tayeng a Chief of Ayeng village of Adis who participated in the conflict against British at Mijom Ghat at Dibang killed many British Sepoys including two Mishing Kotokis of British Government to protect the interest of Adis.
Ultimately the British could not advance and establish their authority in Adi area and abandoned the Military outpost of Mijom Ghat (Needham Ghat).
Later, the British followed a policy of loose administration and appeasement towards Adis but these policies did not work and Adis remained independent. So in order to further strengthen the position and authority of British empires an expedition was proposed to undertake in Adi territory.
J.F. Needham, Assistant Political Officer recommended for an expedition against the
Adis and it received the support of W.E. Ward, the Chief Commissioner of Assam who
wired to the Foreign Secretary, Govt. of India (under British rule) for sanction
of the expedition. He justified in the message that the failure and retreat of the
British troops in earlier expeditions had created a notion amongst the Adis, that
they were unconquerable. A further outrage occurred on December 23, 1893. A Sepoy
was killed and rifle was carried off. As such, the then British-
The expeditionary forces assembled at Sadiya in the early part of January, 1894.

This Abor Expedition was popularly known as Bongal Mimak or Mijom Mimak (Needham War). The objectives of the expedition was to attack and punish the Abors of Bomjir, Dambuk, Mebo, Ayeng, Silli, Padu, AdiPasi, Millang, Komkar villages and finally to capture Damroh Village the headquarter and one of the stronghold of Abor who participated during 1881 War at Mijom Yapgo.

Through your esteemed daily I would like to draw the kind attention of the concern authority towards the delay in declaring the result of written examination for the posts of IRBn/APPBn of Upper Subansiri district which was conducted 2nd September 2012. Till now written result is not declared which creates doubt in the minds of aspirants. News is also in air that unfair means were adopted and there was corruption in recruitment process. I would like to ask the competent authority particularly police department to make its stand clear on allegations. And what about one man enquiry report ?
